Brief History

The concept of early detection and intervention was first introduced by a German pediatrician, Prof. Dr. (H.C.) Theodor Hellbrügge upon his visit to Bandung. Based on his suggestion and supported by chairman of Goethe Institut Bandung, Prof. (Em.) Dr. Anna Alisjahbana, dr. Sp.A(K) and her colleagues, namely Ms. Tien Sumali, Ms. Rasfiati Iskarno, Ms. Eike Moedomo, dr. Bulantresna Jelantik, dr. Sri Indayanti, and dr. Ahmad Toha Muslim started a foundation, focusing particularly on cases of babies and young children with high risk of disability. At the time, early detection and intervention was a new concept, based on the fact of how brain development occurred rapidly during early childhood period.
